Mariam is a seasoned People and Culture Professional along with being an executive coach. She brings in a diverse experience of leading People charters in tech and entreprenurial ventures within the Middle East & Africa region. She has been dedicated to empowering people, nurturing talent and growing our talent footprint since July 2023 as the CHRO of e& enterprise.
In her roles, Mariam has led diverse, multi-cultural, and matrix-based organizations to drive people strategy, transformational projects, and organizational effectiveness. She has a deep understanding of local contexts across the region, having spent over a decade in the Middle East & Africa. She started her career at Telenor after which she moved to Nokia in the region. Her work at Nokia spanned across multiple geography building robust people practices and led to progressive people centric approaches that were one of its kind in the region at that time.
Mariam has a passion of working with founder led entreprenurial organizations and she led Souq.com as their People leader helping the business propel with the people strategy at the core of that success. Mariam was part of the team that led Amazon to set its presence in the region via the acquisition of Souq.com. She led the charter on an education focused and people centric cultural integration of Souq and Amazon for the next several years that saw Amazon grow significantly in the region. Mariam took a mom pause after her role at Amazon and she passionately advocates the need for work life harmony. She moved on as the Chief People Officer at Yoco, an African based fintech focused on mobile solutions to help small business grow with a mission to enable people to thrive.
As a coach, mentor, and advisor, Mariam focuses on career development, change management, and executive leadership development. She has a robust track record of building strong people teams to deliver results and a distinctive employee experience with high energy, accountability, and a passion for Human capital growth for organizations and leaders in highly transformative environments.
Mariam is a mother to two boys, and she is a strong advocate of progressive parenting and work place policies that encourage women to strike a balance. She also enjoys boxing, is an avid reader and mentors’ youth in the region to find their true calling.
